Dewalokam (www.dewalokam.in) is a fully sustainable organic farm and retreat on the banks of the river Kannadipuzha and situated in the lush, green Keralan countryside, 90 minutes drive from Cochin airport.

We will be practicing our yoga on a platform by the river and surrounded by the beautiful gardens. I will be teaching 3 classes a day with a mixture of dynamic and restorative asana (poses), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation. To add to our yogic experience, I am also inviting an Indian yoga master to lead a few of the sessions. 

We will have exclusive use of the main home. All rooms are twin/doubles with airconditioning and ensuite facilities. The rooms all lead onto a large verandah overlooking the gardens and the river.  


The owners are passionate about food, the professional chef prepares three meals each day using organic home grown vegetables and also gives a cookery demonstration most evenings.

The price of the retreat includes full board ( brunch and dinner each day)with tea, coffee and cold drinks including filtered water throughout the day. A light snack will also be offered after the early morning yoga session.

A host of other experiences awaits us - swimming in the river, walking in the tropical forest, visiting the nearby temple, shopping in nearby Thodupuzha or just lying back in a hammock and looking forward to our next ayurvedic massage.

Daily Programme

This is a rough guide of the daily programme and may change depending on the group requirements

Apart from the arrival day(evening yoga class )and departure day (morning yoga class)

7am Morning yoga asana (poses) and pranyama (breathing techniques)

8-8.30am - tea and light snack

8.30am-10am: Yoga (a varierty of yoga styles - Iyengar inspired,vinyasa,viniyoga) Guided meditation practices

10.30-11.30: Brunch

12.30 onwards:  Free time ( rest,swim,treatments,walk,trips to local area)

6pm Yoga ( restorative,meditation,Yoga Nidra)

8pm Dinner


 Cost: £995 per person (based on two people sharing a double/twin room). This includes accommodation, all meals, tea, coffee and filtered water, all yoga classes, cookery demonstrations and guided walks in the surrounding countryside. Cost does not include flights, transfers, visas or travel insurance. Flights from UK are via Dubai. Abu Dhabi, Mumbai or Bangalore.

I am using a  highly experienced and bespoke tour operator, Jane Points (www.points-south.co.uk), to help each of us book our flights and arrange our trip.She will provide us with invaluable advice on visas, currency, climate and all things India. She will also arrange any pre or post retreat tours for you - throughout India, Sri Lanka, ...

Please note that payment is non-refundable. However if you are unable to attend, I will do my best to find a replacement and refund your money – or you may know of others who can take your place. Thank you for your understanding.


Things to do

Explore the surrounding countryside, walks in the tropical forests to see the colonies of fruit bats, and a nearby waterfall.

Excellent birdwatching.

Visits can also be arranged to the local school attended by their children, run by Jesuit priests.

Visit to the nearby temple.

Cycling on the village roads.

Ayurvedic treatments, this is done at the property by practitioners from the nearby ayurvedic hospital.

Swimming pool and river swimming.

There is a dairy farm and spice gardens.

40 minutes drive from the Kodanad elephant sanctuary.

Cookery lessons can be arranged.
